resin: any of a calss of solid or semisolid organic products of natural or synthetic origin with no definite melting point, generally of high molecular weight; most resins are polymers.
resin matrix: the molecular network of an ion exchange material that carries the ionogenic groups --> the resin bound reducing agents have the reducing agents as ionogenic group carried to system.
synthesis:
I've used borohydride on ion exchange resin before, just take a suspension of resin (eg. IRA-400(Cl-)), mix with aqueous sodium borohydride, filter, wash the resin well with water and air dry. The resins chloride counterions become exchanged for borohydride ions, giving you borohydride bound to the resin.
