Giải thích sự tạo thành liên kết pi trong phức Fe(CO)5 và [CoF6]3- theo thuyết VB
Ở đây theo VB ko có khái niệm MO pi ,vậy tại sao lại có sự xen phủ tạo pi bond kiểu cho nhận (CO không có AO trống, F- thì AO đã bão hòa)

This is a funny question. I would say, it is a backward question. One of limitations of VB theory is it can not explain the splitting energy of d electrons of transition metal in the complexes. Why do people want to use VB for transition metal complexes ?. Anyway, you can think about dsp3 and d2sp3 hybridization.

I had read a book written by Le Chi Kien before posting this question
In this book, he mentioned about orbital pi (MO Theory) in VB Theory to explain pi bond of complexes
In National Chemistry Olympiad Contest,they gave a question that I posted above and in the official answer the students must describe the sigma bond ( from ligands to metal) and the pi bond (from metal to ligands) by VB Theory ,not by MO
I will ask some Professor to clear that question

Totally agree with thuydung. For d metal complexes, group theory and MO are very good for explanation.

loZ can you answer this question in National Chemistry Olympiad Contest:
Describe bonding in Fe(CO)5 and [CoF6]3- by VB Theory (sigma bond + pi bond)

I am sorry I cannot do that for you. No one uses VB for d metal complexes (maybe Vietnamese profs are exceptions). I can help you for group theory or MO if you like. The Vietnam National Chemistry Olympiad Contest means nothing to me.
thuydung and I are doing PhD in US - he is in Berkeley and doing computation :). Please dont blame others like what you are doing.

loZ explain by MO Theory is so simple,we learnt it from the high school .You didn't read that this question solved by VB?
PhD in US or other country means nothing to me, NCOC is the same-it's the example don't think like that.
Don't give the certificate or other to boast, don't think that you have any knowledge that you're the best ,if you can buy lamborghini i can think it again loZ
